Amid the roaring crowds in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and the
Stephen C. O’Connell Center, one of our most memorable and easily
identifiable cheers comes alive. At Gator get-togethers and sporting
events, fans can often be seen splitting up into separate cheering
sections: the Big Orange and the Big Blue. During football games,
the student section, also known as “The Swamp Things,” can be
heard chanting “
ORANGE!
” The alumni section screams “
BLUE!
”
in response. Alternating between yells of “ORANGE” and “BLUE,”
the stadium becomes a frenzy of noise, spirit, and
Gator Nation pride.
