Develop a strong mentoring relationship with an academic
advisor and/or faculty member:
This needs to be student-
initiated and student-nurtured. The same thing can be said for
developing a relationship with a junior or senior in your field
of interest.
Go global:
Develop confidence and competence in the global
marketplace by studying abroad. Also give serious consideration
to continuing with foreign languages.
Get out of the classroom and into the real world:
Volunteer/intern every summer to gain insight into the world
of work. If you have an interest in investment banking,
volunteer 10-15 hours a week, etc. This should begin no later
than your sophomore year. Academic advisors and peers in
student organizations are also a great resource.
