College of Agriculture and Life
Sciences, Dr. Teri Balser
Take time to explore:
Being a Gator is more
than just taking classes or attending football
games. Take the time to learn who you are
and what interests you. Try new things.
You may never have this chance again.
Get to know as many people as possible:
In
the end, people will matter more than grades.
In particular, take advantage of meeting
people who are different from you. Learn
from them and learn with them.
Be responsible for your own learning:
No one can learn for you, and no one learns
just like you do. Life doesn’t come with
instructions. Ask questions. Be curious.
Learn how to get things done, and don’t
give up when things get tough.
Find a way to stand out:
Don’t be a number.
Find what you are passionate about and
spend time on it. In the end it is the sum
total of who you are that will matter, not
your transcript or a list of courses completed.
Remember that this is not a rehearsal for
your life:
It
is
your life. The patterns and
habits you develop here will be with you for
your whole life. So be conscious: are you
serving your future by how you live now?
Warrington College of Business
Administration, Dr. John Kraft
Show your initiative:
Get involved in at least
two student organizations – one for fun and
one for professional development.
