How Can I Help Keep
UF Traditions Alive?
H
ave you ever wondered where the funding
for your degree program comes from? If
you’re like most students, the answer is “probably
not” — but that’s all about to change. The majority
of funding for many programs at UF comes from
private donors. This giving has helped preserve
what makes the University of Florida great for the
next generation of students. You can be a part of
the tradition while you’re a student on campus and
for many years to come.
Start Now
You can start your own tradition of giving back
to the University of Florida now. No gift is too
small — whether you give $10 or $100, your
contribution matters and you’ll be recognized for
it. The 1853 Society recognizes those loyal donors
who contribute to UF each year, making it the only
giving society at UF that honors donors based on
loyalty rather than a gift amount. After five years
of consecutive giving, you will become a member
of the society. Have you joined the Alumni
Association as a student member? That’s one gift.
Plan on contributing to your Senior Legacy class
gift? There’s another. You can be well on your way
to becoming a member by the time you graduate!
For the Future
The President’s Council is another giving society
at UF that honors donors based on cumulative
lifetime giving. Honorees are offered unique
benefits such as football parking passes, invitations
to the President’s Council Gala, and more. You,
too, can be in the President’s Council someday.
For now, say “thank you” to these donors by
completing the tradition on page 66.
