Congratulations and welcome to the Gator Nation. Your acceptance to UF represents the
culmination of years of effort — projects, classes, standardized tests, volunteer hours, and more.
You and your classmates are among the very best ever admitted to UF. You and your family
should be very proud of your effort and accomplishments. Now, the journey begins again.
Your Gator experience will continue as you arrive on campus, register for classes, and
become part of the 50,000 strong who make our campus and the Gainesville community
a very special place. This is a unique time in your lives, dedicated to learning, growing,
and self-improvement. But this journey is about more than just you.
Your professors and classmates will challenge you academically. This is a time to explore and
learn about yourself while learning from, and about, others. And this journey never ends.
You now join an elite group of more than 350,000 UF alumni. Like you, they have
walked the campus, studied in the libraries, sung the Alma Mater, and proudly worn the
Orange and Blue on those special Fall weekends. They, like me, cheer your successes —
realizing that through them, the value of every graduate’s degree is enhanced.
As you become a part of the University of Florida, you will find that it becomes a part of
you. Membership in the UF Alumni Association as a student and an alumnus are ways
for you to be counted among the unbroken line of those who have shared your very
