Gators Explore
Built in 1953, Century Tower was constructed to commemorate the
100th anniversary of the University of Florida and was dedicated to
honor UF faculty and students who lost their lives in World Wars I and II.
The 61-bell carillon chimes every quarter hour and gongs on the hour,
acting as UF’s official alarm clock. In addition, brief, informal musical
programs entertain students between classes.
