Understanding the brain

Gators in the Tampa region are invited to hear one of the university’s most-talented researchers explain a medical procedure that could improve the lives of millions of people. Dr. Kelly Foote, director of UF’s Movement Disorders Center, will discuss innovative brain treatments. His presentation, “The Electric Brain: Using Deep Brain Stimulation to Treat Malfunctions of the Human Brain, From Parkinson’s to Major Depression,” is Thursday, Feb. 19, 6-8 p.m., at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, 2900 Bayport Drive.
The free event is part of the UF Alumni Association’s Outreach program. It includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. RSVPs are required no later than Thursday, Feb. 12.
