Florida Cicerones/Student Alumni Association president Vanessa Douyon has been named most outstanding student leader in the Southeast by an international higher education organization. She received the award during the CASE Affiliated Student Advancement Programs conference earlier this month in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Laura Lentz, adviser for Florida Cicerones/SAA, said Douyon has "done a phenomenal job" as president and "has always gone out of her way to do everything bigger and better."

Douyon has been a member of the Florida Cicerones/SAA since February 2006. She is also her sorority's membership chair, a teaching assistant for African American in Higher Education, a Big Brother/Big Sister mentor, a FAB volunteer helping with reconstruction efforts in New Orleans, and has been to Nicaragua to build schools and work in orphanages and clinics. She was recently named UF's homecoming queen.
