Key West Gator Club-coordinated half marathon on tap for late January

All Gators are invited to lace up their running shoes for the one-of-a-kind 13th annual Key West Half Marathon on Jan. 23. Runners World magazine has declared the race, coordinated by the Key West Gator Club, one of 10 great winter half marathons. The flat, fast 13.1-mile course runs through old town Key West and past historic landmarks and Key West's scenic waterfront. It is the only race of its kind that runs half on the Atlantic Ocean and half on the Gulf of Mexico.

Entry is $50 prior to Jan. 8 and $60 on race day. The first 800 entrants receive a specially designed dry weave shirt designed by a local artist. Awards will be given to first-, second- and third-place finishers in various categories; all finishers will receive a medal.
