Gators giving back

Author: Mrs. Jeanna M. Goldberg Publication Date: Sunday May 04, 2008

The Alumni Association's 10th annual International Gator Day is May 17. A record 60 Gator Clubs are scheduled to volunteer their time to give back to their local communities. Projects range from cleaning beaches and roads to working on Habitat for Humanity homes and collecting canned food. Gainesville area alumni and friends are partnering with the Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County to spruce up Little People's Palace childcare facility, one of the local Model Centers for Quality. Last year, more than 1,000 volunteers participated around the world and logged nearly 3,000 volunteer hours. Organizers hope 2008 will be another record-breaking year.
