First pitch for the 2010 Gator Baseball season takes place on Friday, February 19, versus USF at 6:30 p.m. The 2009 Gators won the SEC's Eastern Division title and earned a top-eight national seed for the NCAA Tournament, where they became the Gainesville Regional Champions en route to a top-15 finish nationally. Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's team was 30-10 at McKethan Stadium and made the program's third NCAA Super Regional appearance in six years. The squad also had a school-record 10 players chosen in the Major League Baseball Draft.
The Orange and Blue enters the season ranked 7th in the country and is led by 2009 Freshman All-American Preston Tucker at first base, 2009 First-Team All-SEC second baseman Josh Adams and center fielder Matt den Dekker, a member of the 2009 SEC All-Defensive Team.
