BEAT Hunger
Author: Mrs. Katie Marquis Publication Date: Monday October 06, 2008
Gators are used to beating teams such as the Owls, Tigers, Vols and, of course, Seminoles on the sports field. Now, the UF Alumni Association and Student Alumni Association are determined to help the Gators defeat hunger. The BEAT Hunger Campaign is an effort by the Florida Cicerones, Student Alumni Association and UF Alumni Association to feed the hungry while collecting more food than University of Georgia fans do in a drive that will culminate symbolically on Nov. 1, the date of the Florida-Georgia football game.
Gators are invited to join the effort to feed the needy in the Gainesville community. Drop-off boxes will be provided during the Gator Nation Tailgate in the plaza of Emerson Alumni Hall three hours before kickoff of UF's football games with LSU and Kentucky. "Beat Hunger" buttons will be given to those who contribute three or more cans of food or $1.
