Gator Clubs® and Affiliate Groups Descent on Titletown to Celebrate Successes
More than 220 active Gator Club® and Affiliate Group members and University of
Florida Alumni Association Board Members from around the nation came to
Gainesville between Thursday, August 29 and Saturday, August 31 as part of the
UFAA’s annual conference. This year’s theme of Florida Forward focused the
Alumni Association members’ attention on the University of Florida’s preeminence
designation and journey to the Top Ten, and the specific ways it would benefit
UF alumni around the country.
In addition to looking to the future, attendees also recognized the many Gator
achievements from the past year. Friday evening’s
Gator Gala: An Evening of Gatortales &
Cocktails was a celebreation of Gator greats and great Gator moments.
Immediate Past President Dr. Jason
Rosenberg (90, 93, 95) installed Rahul Patel (94, 97) as UFAA 2013-14 President.
Using his newly-granted powers, Mr. Patel swore in the new UFAA National Board
of Directors and new Gator Club® Presidents. Dr. Mark Gold (75) was confirmed as
the UFAA’s Distinguished Alumni Professor, and awards were given to Provost Joe
Glover (Gold Standard Award) and Mr. Danny Ponce (70, 73) (Gator of the Year).
For many Gala attendees, the highlight of the Gator Gala was the presentation of
The Clubbie Awards, which recognize Gators who have gone above and beyond in
strengthening the Gator Nation over the past year. Twenty-one Gator Clubs® and
six individuals received Clubbies. You can see the entire list of Clubbie Award
winners, our highlight video reel, event photos, and the installation of our new
UFAA President by clicking on this link.
