International Gator Day
Danny Wuerffel

To The Gator Nation,

As Chairman of the 2009 International Gator Day, I am thrilled to tell you that the program was once again an overwhelming success. On May 16th, 2009, 64 Gator Clubs enhanced their communities by participating in a day of giving back. From beach clean-ups, volunteering at food banks and providing animal care to landscaping, painting and sending care packages to our troops, Gators came out to make a difference. It is a sheer joy to know that our alumni and friends are so caring and passionate about helping others. I can truly say that the 11th annual International Gator Day is something of which we can all be proud. While we all know its fun to cheer on our sports teams and be part of game day mania, it is clear that the Gator Nation also understands the importance of philanthropy and volunteerism.

As Helen Keller once said, “the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart”. Gator Nation, you have truly touched the heart of many by participating in this wonderful day. I challenge you to continue your good acts and be good representatives of our beloved alma mater.

I look forward to the 12th annual International Gator Day, as it continues to be the most visible and meaningful community service project associated with the Gator Club® Network.

Go Gators!

International Gator Day International Gator Day is designed as a day when Gators come together to volunteer. Each year on the third Saturday of May, Gators worldwide join forces to positively impact their communities. Gator Clubs from Key West to New York to Seattle to Japan and beyond participate in this day of service. This annual event enlists the strength and size of the Gator Nation to help organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, food banks and clean-up/beautification projects.
